Birmingham Children’s Hospital
The Birmingham Paediatric Burns Centre is located at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) in a state-of-the-art, nine-bedded unit adjacent to a 22-bed Paediatric critical care unit.
Investment in 2010/11 is supporting the expansion of the this critical care facility to 31 beds, and surgical leadership is provided by the world class team of dedicated burns surgeons at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as part of a close working relationship betwene the two hospitals.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital runs a paediatric Wellcome Clinical Research Facility, which is managed in partnership with the University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).
BCH receives Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre funding, hosts the West Midlands Medicines for Children Research Network, and an NIHR funded research capital bid 3tMRI scanner will come into operation within the next year.
