MD-TEC runners up at prestigious awards ceremony

29 May 2019

The ERDF-funded Medical Devices Testing and Evaluation Centre, based on the third floor of the Heritage Building, were recently finalists at the Med-Tech Innovation Awards in the Design category. The awards were held on May 15 as part of the annual Med-Tech Innovation Expo (the UK and Ireland’s leading showcase for medical device design and manufacturing technology). Award winners were chosen by an independent judging panel, with the panel tasked with assessing each entry in each of the five categories on the merit of their contribution to the medical device engineering supply chain.

In their category, MD-TEC narrowly missed out on the Design award. The awards were presented by Adam Kay, award-winning author of the hilarious bestseller This Is Going to Hurt – recollections from his days as a junior doctor. MD-TEC (Medical Devices Testing and Evaluation Centre) provides Med –Tech and Life Sciences businesses within the West Midlands region, access to the latest state-of-the art simulation and usability facilities alongside dedicated medical device expertise from the academic and clinical environment. The centre supports the acceleration of products from bench to market, at less cost and with reduced risk.

MD-TEC currently has funding to support any company or individual based in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) area, with alternative grant proposals available for those not based in the area.
