Dr Suzy Gallier is Head of Health Data Research Programmes at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) and Technical Director for PIONEER, the Health Data Research Hub for Acute Care. With over 25 years’ experience across public and private healthcare sectors, she specialises in health data science, clinical pathway improvement, and the development of secure data infrastructures that enable impactful research.

Suzy leads a large multidisciplinary team delivering cutting-edge research and consultancy using real-world health data, supporting projects across academia, industry, and the NHS. She has contributed to securing over £52 million in research funding and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. Her expertise spans statistical modelling, artificial intelligence, and the governance of Trusted Research Environments.

As an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Birmingham’s College of Medicine and Health, Suzy is passionate about advancing data-driven innovation to improve patient outcomes, ensuring equitable and safe use of health data, and fostering collaborative research with strong patient and public involvement.
