Following his completion of a LLB in Law and Masters in Commercial Law, James has now been working within MidTECH for nearly 17 years. MidTECH is the NHS Innovation Hub for the region and essentially acts as the technology transfer office for the NHS in the West Midlands. He has extensive experience of innovation and commercialisation of intellectual property within the healthcare industry. James manages the MidTECH team and oversees the NHS innovation and intellectual property portfolios of MidTECH’s client organisations, helping with a range of projects, programmes, grants, collaborations, intellectual property (IP) protection, and more.

James also works on the strategic focus of MidTECH with its host organisation, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). This involves managing the relationships that MidTECH has with its client organisations and MidTECH’s partnership with the West Midlands Health Innovation Network.
