Bio

Lisa joined University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) as Director of Healthcare Data Research in March 2024. This role has oversight of the data research infrastructure hosted at UHB, including PIONEER, PATHWAY, INSIGHT UHB and the West Midlands Secure Data Environment.  Additionally, the Healthcare Data Research team includes a statistics research service, the Incubator for AI & Digital Healthcare, and a wider portfolio of policy and regulatory work.

Originally trained as an anthropologist, Lisa went on to specialise in healthcare analysis, data science and population health management. She has led teams in the public, private and charity sectors, and most recently worked at Alzheimer’s Research UK. In addition to informatics, Lisa’s experience encompasses aspects of data governance and research infrastructure, including the development of bespoke secure data environments.

Alongside her role in the Research, Development and Innovation Department at UHB, Lisa also sits on the Hospital Episodes Statistics Advisory Board at HSJ Information and serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at a charity in Nottingham that provides community-based therapeutic services.
