Bio

Olivia is the Programme Manager for the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Device, Digital and Robotics (NIHR HRC-DDR). Leading the team, Olivia’s role involves co-ordinating activities and initiatives of the programme, ensuring the delivery of objectives and adherence to required reporting processes. Olivia oversees the development of high-quality grant applications and research study protocols in collaboration with theme leads and collaborators locally and nationally, to deliver human factors usability studies, technology functionality testing, and first-in human clinical investigations of novel technology.

Olivia has a basic science background with a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Biomedical Science, specialising in Haematology. She joined the Research, Development and Innovation department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) in October 2014 and has since developed strong knowledge of academic and NHS research management processes, alongside collaborative project/programme management skills. Olivia moved into a senior leadership role in Health Technology in 2019 and has extensive knowledge of the innovation ecosystem, health technology research methodologies, and medical device regulations.
