Lorraine Harper is Professor of Nephrology at the University of Birmingham. She is a strong supporter of academic training supporting the development of the integrated academic training pathway for junior clinical researchers in Birmingham and is extensively involved in delivery of the Medical School undergraduate curriculum.
 
She is an enthusiastic communicator on the theme of translational research and gives frequent talks to various groups at both the local and national level.
 
Lorraine has been instrumental in the development of a regional network of nephrologists and rheumatologists to support best practice in the management of vasculitis and was recently appointed as Birmingham Health Partners Research and Health Innovation Director to help bring the benefits of research rapidly to patient.

Dr Jan Idkowiak

Clinical Associate Professor in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.
 
Jan is Clinical Associate Professor in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, based at the IMSR and at the Department of Endocrinology at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. His research focuses androgen metabolism. Jan’s other key interest is the link between paediatric androgen excess and metabolic dysfunction.

Dr Dhruv Parekh
 
Institute of Inflammation and Ageing. Associate Professor in Critical Care and Respiratory Medicine.
 
Dr Dhruv Parekh is an Associate Professor in Critical Care and Respiratory Medicine at the University of Birmingham, Consultant in Intensive Care and Respiratory at the University Hospitals Birmingham. His research interests are developing novel therapies in ARDS, lung fibrosis, perioperative inflammation, sepsis and critical care.
